It’s not Pink. It’s Salmon.

before_kitchOur kitchen is outdated and ugly. But instead of spending $20,000 dollars on updating it, I figure I’d continue to keep up my addiction to Ruelala and other fun shopping websites. All jokes aside- we don’t plan on doing anything to this kitchen until the spring. So FINALLY I got to make a fun little weekend project based on my love for awkwardly bright colors.

behrSince its a temporary thing, hubs did not object when I picked out the paint color, Pink Salmon.. and went with Behr-all-in-one-paint-and-primer again, since it makes painting so much easier!

This only took one day, and all I had to do was:

  • rip down the ugly wall paper
  • wash the walls with warm water & soap to clean off the glue residue
  • paint 2 coats
  • persuade hubs into hanging up a few cute items

The funny thing is- most of the people who’ve visited our place since I painted it thought it was like that already!!

Your hallway, Sweet Juliet

hallway_beforeFINALLY. I got to pick a paint color all by myself. Although I did have a Hot Pink paint swatch in my hand for the Hallway, hubs said ‘Hey, check this one out, the name is Sweet Juliet’. And that was that. Done.

No, Rocco did not offer to help paint at all.

No, Rocco did not offer to help paint at all.

The Hallway wasn’t too ugly before, but it had this 70’s wallpaper that looked like tire-marks up and down. Plus it was ‘Off White’ and somewhat depressing.

So I did what any girl would do, start ripping down wallpaper at 7am on a Sunday, in hopes that her love will help finish the project (and take over if need be)Paint_hallway

Since he was the Project Mgr, I was given this nice tasteful name.

Ordered this print from MadeByGirl for $20. Plus the $20 frame from Michael’s. Brightens up my mornings!

One full day, and 3 after-work-paint nights later. Voila!

hallway_afterNot too much needed for this makeover, other than some Paint (Behr-Paint-and-Primer-in-One), White Outlet fixtures, Crisp White Paint for the trim and doors, New Knobs, and a new light fixture.

Oh yeah, and some Paint Removal crap that I have yet to use on the floors that I cannot wait to remove!

8 months.. really?

Wow! What bad little blog homeowners we are! Working on a house is a LOT harder than we thought, so we’ve spread the projects out longer than anticipated. We’re now tackling the front room and will have a fun before and after photo gallery.

Before and After: Master Bathroom

Hmmm, so if its the only bathroom in the house, it sounds like it should be the master bathroom by default, right? So let’s start from the beginning. The bathroom renovation started at 7am on Labor Day Monday, after I decided to rip down the ugly 80s wallpaper. That’s the beauty of owning a house.. you can do whatever you want!

Fortunately Gus was on board with this extreme bathroom makeover. We headed to Home Depot (cos they awesomely open up early) and bought the supplies.

We took down all the wallpaper, removed all of the shelving, lights, mirrors, etc. Started the fun filled process of priming.

Waited a few hours and started applying the paint. I say we, but Gus, as always, was a rockstar and did most of it. Finally at about 11:30pm, we finished up for the day to let the 2nd coat dry. Unfortunately we did not get the lights and mirror up until Tuesday after work.

At least I got a good look at what Gus will look like if he ever gets grey hair (thanks to sanding the walls) Whats up George Clooney?

Finally the unveiling………

After!

Alright, after a half hour of trying to figure out why the heck WordPress is uploading this pic sideways, I give up. Just turn your head for a couple of seconds to check it out! Or email me how to rotate a pic in WordPress, because the original image isn’t sideways like this one!

Lesson learned: When remodeling your only bathroom, make sure you take a shower before starting the renovation, because we learned that the hardway after working all day long. Thanks Deordarant!

Keep Calm and Etsy on!

Hooray for Etsy! I ordered some pieces from BluLima

I’ve been obsessed with the “Keep Calm and Carry On” Screen Print ever since Oh! How Lovely! posted it awhile back. It was $12 per print and $4.00 shipping. Not going to lie- it was delivered in an envelope that said “Do not bend” with quite the bendage on the corner. Not cool but I was able to fix it after sticking it between a couple of text books for a few hours. Then it was fine and frame worthy. I went to Micheal’s and bought two “floating” picture frames for $16.99 each. Very easy to assemble, and it turned out pretty frickin’ sweet when I hung it up.
